About Our Church

The Lutheran Church is the oldest of the Protestant churches, being the first to "protest" against the religious authorities in the 16th Century. The leader of that movement was a young Roman Catholic priest named Martin Luther. He believed, and our church teaches, that salvation is not a reward earned by righteous people, but a gift given to all by a gracious and loving God. As is recorded in the Holy Bible:

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; It is the gift of God - not the result of works, so that no one may boast.                                     Ephesians 2:8-9

For Lutherans, this means that we are not here to work out our salvation, but to serve God and others.

Our guiding principles:

Jesus is Lord

All are Welcome

Everyone has a Gift

Practice Grace

Love Changes People

What We Believe

The ELCA began forming in 1982 (officially operating in 1988) from the American Lutheran Church, the Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches, and the Lutheran Church in America.  It is a church which confesses the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  The church confesses Jesus Christ as lord and savior, and the Gospel as the power of God for the salvation of all who believe.

On Fire for Christ!
